FilmFest @CYFA Invitational

A non-competitive, community focused event on celebrating the creativity of young filmmakers from across the Cowichan region. Schools are invited to QMS for a special screening showcasing a diverse selection of student-made films. This event highlights storytelling, innovation, and the collaborative spirit of local student filmmakers.  

Open Gallery

Parents and community members are invited to experience TheGallery, our signature art exhibition showcasing the artistic talent of junior and senior school students. This curated collection features visual arts, material arts, poetry, and photography, celebrating the creativity and dedication of our young artists. 

Opening Event

CYFA begins with a showcase of student talent, featuring performances in music, dance, and filmmaking by both junior and senior students. The ceremony also includes speeches from festival organizers and an introduction to the CYFA team. 

Senior Programs

Designed for younger students, the junior programs at CYFA offer a hands-on and engaging introduction to the arts. Workshops and activities span a variety of creative disciplines, including music, film, dance, drama, poetry, ceramics, and more. With a focus of exploration, these sessions provide opportunities to learn new skills, experiment with different artistic mediums, and bring creative ideas to life in a supportive environment. 

Junior Programs

The senior programs at CYFA offer an in-depth exploration of the arts, providing students with opportunities to refine their skills, experiment with new techniques, and collaborate with peers. Featuring workshops in music production, dance, drama, ceramics, poetry, film, and more, these sessions encourage creative expression and artistic growth. With extended time for hands-on practice and guidance from peers, senior students can push their artistic boundaries and bring their creative visions to life.
